The client, operating an app similar to Tinder for clothes, faced issues in capturing user activities such as app opens, closes, and swipes. These activities were tracked through MixPanel, but some events were not captured properly. Additionally, they needed a way to track users’ operating systems (Android vs. iPhone) through UTM parameters for marketing analysis.
Approach & Solution
DataRopes.ai developed a solution to fix tracking issues and improve data collection and marketing attribution for the app.
- We identified and corrected issues in event tracking, ensuring over 100,000 user interactions per month were accurately recorded in MixPanel.
- UTM parameters were implemented using AppsFlyer to track and differentiate users based on their operating systems (Android and iPhone), helping the client gather better data on user behavior.
- Customized MixPanel dashboards were built to visualize user performance, cohort analysis, and trends based on real-time app usage data.
- The links created with UTM parameters allowed the client to track 5 different marketing campaigns, giving insights into user acquisition across Android and iOS platforms.
Results & Outcomes
Fixing the event tracking issues helped the client avoid data inaccuracies and gave them more reliable insights into user interactions. With improved UTM tracking, they could now optimize their marketing spend by better targeting platforms and operating systems. This resulted in more efficient ad campaigns and accurate user behavior analysis.
